Gucci has been making a big online push lately. They are launching a new “digital flagship” store on Gucci.com on September 22 the same date of the Women’s Spring Summer 2011 fashion show in Milan, Italy. As part of the launch, Gucci is holding a fashion “e-vent” that lets online watchers of the show participate in the show itself. Not only are they livestreaming the runway show but select Gucci watchers who are filming themselves on webcam will be broadcast at the show.

To get you chance RSVP to the catwalk invite on GucciConnect.com. In order to get your face in the show you have to download the Gucci Connect E-vent Facebook App which has virtual guests creating groups and competing for VIP seating at the e-vent on gucciconnect.com. The winning VIP group will be announced on September 20th and will have their webcams projected at the show. Gucci e-ticket holders can sign into gucciconnect.com on September 22nd for the E-vent and share their webcam or photo with other virtual guests. Live streaming coverage will offer four different camera angles and the virtual guests can connect through a live guest list, live chat, Facebook Connect and Twitter. It’s the next best thing to being there and with no waiting in line.

The semi-annual Paris auto salon is coming up in just a few weeks, with several automakers releasing glimpses at their latest wares in advance. The latest comes from French automaker Citroën, which has announced the newest addition to its DS line of premium offerings.

Called the DS4, the quasi-crossover hatchback was previewed in Geneva earlier this year as the DS High Rider. In production form, the DS4 adds a pair of rear doors neatly integrated into the svelte, coupe-like shape. Premium fit and finish is accented by the tasteful application of chrome trim, with a tall stance bridging the gap between a hatchback and a sport-utility vehicle. A range of gasoline and diesel engines co-developed with BMW will be on offer, but sadly for Francophiles exiled to American shores, Citroën doesn’t market on this side of the Atlantic. So for now we’ll just have to admire from afar.

Elements 8 rum has created a new barrel infused spiced rum. The rum is a blend of fruits and spices that occur on St. Lucia, where Elements 8 Rums are distilled. Flavors including cinnamon, ginger, clove, star anise, vanilla, honey, nutmeg, orange, lemon and coconut are infused within the barrel before being finally blended with the other single rums. The result is a balance of 10 indigenous spices married with fine aged rum. it can be sipped neat or used to add a new twist to an Old-Fashioned or to spice up a Dark and Stormy. The rum is being sold in the UK and will be available in Harvey Nichols and Selfridges for £36.99.
